Tools Needed:
Short and long Phillips screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver
Zip tie (optional)
Unplug appliance and/or turn off circuit breakers to prevent electrocution.
Remove the top panel by removing the screws, slide it back and set aside.
Remove the two screws in the lower front, open door, remove the two screws near the base of the door. Remove the two screws at the top.
Disconnect the wire harnesses. Tilt the control panel and disconnect the wire harness, set aside. Remove the light socket wire harness along with the two screws securing the front panel. Remove the front panel and set aside.
Remove the bulk head by removing the screws securing it. Reach in to pull the idler pulley away from the dryer, release the dryer belt to release the tension.
Lift the belt of the dryer and guide the drum out of the dryer. Remove the screw securing the heating element housing. Remove the high limit thermostat and thermal cut off with a screwdriver. Remove the wires with a flat head screwdriver and remove the assembly.
Detach the support bracket from the element. To install the new dryer element, place the element on the support bracket and secure with screws.
Reattach the wires to the terminals, secure the high limit thermostat, and the thermal cut off. Place the assembly in its place, and secure with screws.
Reinstall the drum, reach in to pull the idler pulley towards the machine, install the dryer belt onto the idler pulley. Make sure the pulley, belt and drum are placed correctly by turning the drum.
Reattach the bulk head with the screws. Reattach the front panel into the mounting slots and secure with screws. Reconnect the light socket wire harness. With the control panel, reconnect the wire harness and reattach the control panel. Reconnect the wire harnesses. You may secure with a zip tie.
Replace all screws, including the top panel screws. Reconnect appliance and turn on. Go ahead and give it a test!
