When Low Prices Really Are Too Good to be True
Replacement parts might be our business, but we don’t expect them to be yours. At Snap Supply, we make it a priority to not only provide customers with the parts they need, but also the information they need to make an informed purchasing decision. We understand that most people simply don’t have the time to fully appreciate, for example, the subtle differences between seemingly identical parts.
Unfortunately, many internet sellers, on Amazon and beyond, do not have your best interest in mind.
Search for any given part on Amazon and you will surely come across some sellers advertising impossibly low prices. You don’t need us to tell you that in most cases, these prices are too good to be true. But when it comes to appliances, the difference between a high-quality part and a low-quality part can be the difference between a working appliance and a malfunctioning one.
And the consequences can be quite dangerous. Snap Supply pays for third party testing to compare our product with others on the market. In the course of our research, we bought some of these super low-priced items to test them against our own product. Between the third party testing and our own research, we discovered some details about these low-priced parts that troubled us.
Certain sellers are able to offer products for unbelievably low prices because the products themselves are knock offs made from lower-quality materials. This results in a product that is physically and functionally similar to the original but is also more likely to break and in some cases put the user in danger.
In a marketplace with such a wide range of parts made distinct by only the subtlest differences, it’s often difficult for even professionals to tell products apart without spending some time examining them in person. This makes it easy for knock-off parts to make their way onto the market and into people’s homes without anyone ever noticing.
The standards of quality that these foreign knock-offs are required to meet are far lower than what we have come to expect. This can often lead to elements falling apart while in use. In the case of essential parts like heating elements, this type of poor construction can cause malfunctions that can lead to fire or electric shocks.
These sellers are compelled to offer potentially dangerous products because they are able to sell them at low prices and still turn a profit. They use these knock-offs to undercut honest sellers and take control of the market.
Snap Supply makes every effort to offer our products at the lowest possible price. What we refuse to do is compromise on quality or safety simply to sell at lower prices. When it comes to prices, we can’t compete with these shady sellers because when you buy from us, you are buying quality parts. What we can do is assure our customers that we prioritize their safety and wellbeing over our profits.
